AI in Your Profession Assignment

In this assignment, you will explore how AI is currently being used in your discipline/profession, and share your findings on the blog https://reflect.creativitycourse.orgLinks to an external site.

The steps of the assignment are as follows:

  1. Write on your own where/how you think AI is currently being used, or might be used in the near future in your field, whether academically while studying or in the workplace
  2. Use one of the AI tools to see what it will suggest are ways AI will be used in your field
  3. Interview a professor at AUC about this – you can ask them about both academic and professional uses. You can take permission to record the interview in audio and put the recording on your blog, with a summary of your key findings. Or you can take notes. Maybe take a photo with the professor as well 🙂
  4. Interview a person in the profession that you know – an older sibling, family friend, etc. If you cannot think of someone you know, you could interview an additional professor who works a lot in the field (some part-time professors are like that) or interview someone from the career center. Again, you can audio-record or take notes, and provide a summary.
  5. Provide your reflection: were you surprised? What about your findings excite or scare you? Are you feeling anything else? What do you think you need to be doing right now about what you’ve just learned?

AI use in this assignment (traffic light guidelines)

  • You are required to use AI in step #2. Please say which tool you used and provide the exact output it gave you, linking to your chat with the tool
  • You may use AI in step #3 and #4 if your notes are too long and you want to write them concisely, but provide your detailed notes or audio recording as a link in case someone wants more details. Just be transparent about how you’ve used it
  • Please do not use AI in steps #1 or #5 because I want to hear your personal reflections

How this assignment is graded

You get one point for doing each of the 5 steps and the additional 2 points are about the quality of your reflection – that you truly reflect on what this means to you and not give me a generic response.
